CORE Summit Keynote and Reception

Dr. Shefali V. Mehta is an economist, statistician and coach who supports individuals and communities in living their values and reaching their full potential.  She founded and leads Open Rivers Consulting Associates, a science & technology and management consulting firm that emphasizes the environment and holistic wellness.  Open Rivers builds upon her clients’ strengths to develop and implement individual and organizational strategies. Open Rivers undertakes a holistic, impact-based approach by weaving together 5 areas: courageous innovation, compassion and joy, decision-making driven by data and science, diversity of perspectives and the prioritization of the environment.

Serving the community across diverse causes are core to Open Rivers’ mission. Dr. Mehta advises and works with diverse non-profits.  She is currently an Associate Professor at University of Minnesota’s School of Statistics.  Dr. Mehta has served in roles across private, public and non-profit sectors including McKinsey, Syngenta, the National Corn Grower’s Soil Health Partnership and as Deputy Under Secretary of Research, Education and Economics and Acting Chief Scientist of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Dr. Mehta earned her PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics and MS in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University and a BA in Economics from New York University.  She earned her integral coaching certification from New Ventures West.
